Make This Peppermint Foot Lotion to Energize Tired Feet

Peppermint foot lotion

This luxurious Peppermint Foot Lotion is heavenly for tired feet and legs.

After a long day of standing, working, shopping or doing anything that makes your feet tired…this peppermint foot lotion is just the thing you need!

Are your heels dry and cracked? This lotion’s healing ingredients will soothe and moisturize even the driest feet.

My feet hurt a lot after standing for any length of time.  I buy good shoes to help give support, but I still need some extra TLC at the end of the day.

Keeping our feet in good shape is obviously important! They are the workhorses for our body, but we often take them for granted.

Our feet take tons of force impact just during an average day of walking and standing. That pounding explains why feet are the body part most likely to be achy and tired.

Spending just a few minutes a day on foot care and choosing the right shoes can keep you free of problems that may lead to pain and even disability.

This foot lotion recipe is good for refreshing tired feet, repairing dry cracked heels and healing athlete’s foot.

** This blog post is about how to make your own high quality foot cream with natural products but, if that isn’t your idea of a fun time, I have included at the bottom of the post a list of safe organic options that you may wish to purchase instead.

What I Found to Refresh my Feet

After a long day on my  feet all I want to do is put my feet up. But I’ve found something better!

Homemade peppermint foot lotion.  Rubbing this lotion into your feet will do worlds more good than just “putting your feet up”.

By combining peppermint and tea tree essential oil in this foot cream,  you end up with the most luxurious and healing foot cream you could ask for.

I love how fresh and cool this cream makes my feet feel after a long day and heals dry patches quickly leaving skin soft!

Peppermint is an excellent aid to circulation, which is part of what makes it such an invigorating herb. It can neutralize odor while it soothes, cools, and revives tired feet.

The oils in this cream are both skin nourishing and healing, helping to prevent dry, cracked heels. It also repairs those heels that are already cracked and dry.

Because of the tea tree essential oil and eucalyptus essential oils used in this peppermint foot lotion, it also heals athlete’s foot.

How Cooling Peppermint Foot Lotion Works

This foot cream contains three essential oils that work together to cool feet and eliminate odor

1. Peppermint Essential Oil contains menthol which is soothing and cooling to the skin. It is an excellent aid to circulation, which is part of what makes it such an invigorating herb. It can neutralize odor while it soothes, cools, and revives tired feet.

2. Tea Tree Essential Oil is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.  It is a very effective treatment for foot fungus and athlete’s foot. During World War II, all Australian soldiers carried tea tree oil in their first-aid kits as a treatment for skin injuries. Australians knew the healing power of this essential oil.

3.  Eucalyptus Essential Oil has a fresh and clean aroma and is antimicrobial and an antiseptic. It is effective at treating wounds, burns, cuts, abrasions, sores and scrapes. It is the perfect addition to keep feet healthy and heal any dry rough patches.

Why You Should Use Natural Ingredients

My motto: Keep ingredients simple (pronounceable), and keep it healthy.

It is really good when you can pronounce all the ingredients in your skin care!

What goes on your skin gets absorbed straight into the blood system.

That is why nicotine patches work so well.  They are put on the skin and instantly absorbed through the skin into the blood system.

The same goes for the products we put on our skin, which is our largest organ. The chemicals in our skin care products are being absorbed into our bodies.

The long term effects are scary!

Protect your health and use natural products that have been used since ancient times to heal the body and preserve beauty.

Natural Moisturizers to Soften your Skin

  • Shea Butter is extremely moisturizing and very hydrating when applied to the skin. It provides immediate softness and smoothness.  Shea butter is rich in vitamin E and vitamin A, and is rich is stearic and oleic acids which seal in moisture.

  • Virgin Coconut Oil is an excellent moisturizer with many antioxidants that make it ideal for healing the skin.  It is both anti-fungal and anti-bacterial.  People living in tropical, coconut growing areas have used this oil for centuries on their skin.

  • Vitamin E Oil is well known for its skin healing and anti-oxidant properties.  It is used in beauty products to reduce the signs of aging and treat skin conditions.  It also acts as a natural preservative in homemade body care items.

Homemade Peppermint Foot Lotion Ingredients

I buy all my oils from Rocky Mountain Oils.  They are high quality, 100% pure and natural oils, direct online ordering with FREE shipping and a loyalty program to earn your oils for free!

(Once you buy these natural ingredient items, they can be used to make many batches of DIY skin care products.)

**Note: (I use arrowroot powder in all of my body butter and thick cream DIY skin care products.  It makes the body butter less greasy feeling.)

How to Make Peppermint Foot Lotion

  1. Melt coconut oil and Shea Butter together in a glass jar or metal container. You can place a glass jar in a pot of hot water and make a “double broiler”.  Or melt in the microwave. Heat until melted.  Do not overheat to boiling.
  2. Add Vitamin E oil to the melted mixture. Cool to room temperature or place in the refrigerator to cool faster.

3.  Add Essential Oils and Arrowroot Powder.  Whip the room cooled oils with a mixer or whisk until creamy and lighter in color. If the oils are not cool enough, the lotion will not whip to a fluffy texture.  Put it back in the refrigerator until it is opaque, like the picture above.  If you forget the mixture in the fridge (I do this all the time!) take it out and let it become softer. It will not mix if it is rock hard.

How to Use

Apply to feet and in between toes and rub into the skin on your legs.

The cooling feeling feels heavenly on hot or tired feet and legs!

For dry, cracked heels, apply peppermint foot lotion liberally at night before bed. Once it has soaked in a bit, put socks on to help further seal in the moisture.

This foot lotion is thick like a body butter.  As soon as it hits the skin it warms up like butter and melt into the skin. The ingredients are so moisturizing you will see HUGE benefits almost immediately!

A little goes a LONG way!  So just use a small pea size amount at a time.

As a bonus, rub your shoulders and neck with the lotion that is still on your hands.  The peppermint feels so good on sore muscles and relaxes tight muscles.
